The Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2024: Building Green Futures, HCMC, Vietnam

Taking place from October 21 to 23, GEFE 2024 included exhibitions, seminars, and high-level dialogues between businesses to businesses (B2B) and between businesses and governments (B2G), bringing together many experts and partners from sustainable development enterprises at home and abroad. The event attracted more than 200 booths of businesses, organizations, etc. from 13 countries including the German Pavilion, to present and promote products and solutions that meet the goals of a circular economy and emission reduction in Vietnam.

Vietsol - Vietnam Representative Winning Future AI - Startup Pitch at APK 2024

Competing with many potential candidates in the world, Vietsol - Pioneering Excellence in Mobility Engineering & Technology, nominated by AHK Vietnam, attended the Future AI - Startup Pitch at Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 in India and won the competition. The solution that Vietsol brought to the competition was using advanced algorithms, optimized neural networks to achieve high performance with minimal computing resources.

The 2024 GBA Oktoberfest concluded successfully, promoting German culture with seven nights of festivities across three major cities: Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City. German Groups Keen on Vietnam’s Innovation Push

German companies are crucial in bringing quality investments to Vietnam and exploring opportunities beyond manufacturing. GBA members like Pearl Polyurethane Systems, Digi-Texx Vietnam, and Bosch Vietnam showcase German-driven innovation. With 475 projects worth $2.78 billion, German investments in Vietnam are significant. In the first nine months of 2024, investments reached $91 million, a 41% increase year-on-year. GBA Chairman Alexander Ziehe highlights Vietnam’s strategic importance for German multinationals and SMEs, with investments diversifying into textiles, medical supplies, chemicals, and consumer goods.

According to the latest study titled "Emerging Markets: A Decisive Decade" released by S&P Global on October 16, Vietnam has the potential to be one of the fastest-growing emerging markets by 2035. Among the findings, S&P Global opine that emerging markets like Vietnam will play a crucial role in shaping the global economy over the next decade, averaging 4.06 per cent GDP growth through 2035, compared with 1.59 per cent for advanced economies.

GvW Updates on the Guidance on Implementing Enforcement Measures and Temporary Exit Bans for Local and Foreign Tax Debtors

GvW Graf von Westphalen updates on a new measure implemented by the general department of taxation. A new report shows that temporary exit bans for tax debts (local as well as foreign debtors) have nearly tripled to over 6,500 cases this year, compared to 2,400 last year. These bans are an effective measure for recovering tax debts in Vietnam. To enhance tax debt management, the GDT issued Official Letter 4216/TCT-QLN on September 23, 2024. It is expected that the enforcement of tax debts will be further implemented and followed strictly.
