Berlin: Conference of the Heads of German Missions (BoKoWiTa 2023), September 4 – 7, 2023
From 4 to 7 September 2023, the heads of more than 220 embassies, consulates general and permanent missions to international organizations gathered at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin to discuss global developments and German foreign policies.
In terms of the event series, Mr. Marko Walde participated in a dinner hosted by Asia Bridge e.V. – Euro-Asian Initiative. This meeting brought together guests from the worlds of business, diplomacy, politics, culture, and civil society, as well as German ambassadors, consuls general, and permanent representatives to international organizations and the European Union, to engage in intensive dialogue.

Meeting with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany H.E Vu Quang Minh
On 4 September, GBA Co-Chairman Mr. Elmar Dutt had a fruitful meeting with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany H.E Vu Quang Minh in Berlin. They exchanged views on various topics of mutual interest, such as trade, investment, culture and sustainability. They also highlighted the achievements and potential of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany.
Mr. Dutt expressed his gratitude to H.E. Minh for his insights and hospitality, and we, the German Business Association - GBA, look forward to working with him to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation and friendship.

HCMC: Dual Vocational Training Graduation Ceremony, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, September 21, 2023
On September 21, the Graduation Ceremony for 11 apprentices of the 2nd batch (2020-2023) under the Automotive Mechatronics occupation of AHK Vietnam’s Dual Vocational Training Program was held at Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, combined with other activities such as granting of other certifications, keynote speeches, and gala dinner.
This milestone marked another successful outcome of the cooperation between AHK Vietnam, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, and LILAMA 2 International Technology College since 2019 in training Automotive Mechatronics Technicians according to German-DIHK standards. At the event, the parties’ representatives extended warm congratulations to the young graduates who would now start thriving further in their careers.
By this chance, AHK Vietnam emphasized our ultimate goal of developing qualified skilled workers for companies in Vietnam and parallelly creating opportunities for Vietnamese young talent to get a permanent job after graduation with all the necessary knowledge and skills.

Binh Dinh: KURZ Vietnam's New Factory Grand Opening, September 8, 2023
AHK Vietnam was privileged to be a part of this significant moment for KURZ - the inaugural event marking the establishment of KURZ Vietnam's factory in Binh Dinh. In attendance were esteemed guests from the government, ministries, local authorities, as well as KURZ partners and representatives from various corners of the globe.
KURZ is a reputable global corporation with headquarters in Bavaria, Germany, specializing in providing high-quality decorative and protective surface products. Their factory in Binh Dinh - Vietnam, in its first phase, has a total investment of 40 million USD and covers an area of 12 hectares. It has a production capacity of up to 15 million square meters of products per year, mainly focusing on Luxor and Alufin films. Ba Ria - Vung Tau: FUCHS Lubricants Vietnam’s New Plant Inauguration, September 14, 2023
Mr. Marko Walde had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening Ceremony of FUCHS Lubricants Vietnam’s factory at Phu My 3 Industrial Park, located in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. FUCHS invested in building a lubricant factory there on a land area of nearly 2 hectares, with a total investment of more than 6 million USD, with an output of more than 6,000 m3 of lubricants/year.
FUCHS is a global Group with German roots that has developed, produced, and sold lubricants and related specialties for over 90 years – for virtually all areas of application and sectors. Hai Phong: RRC Power Solutions’ Grand Opening, September 20, 2023
Mr. Björn Koslowski was delighted to participate in the opening ceremony of RRC Power Solutions in Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, located in Hai Phong Province.
RRC has been producing batteries and chargers in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities that are equipped with a high degree of automation. They are now planning to manufacture batteries and chargers used for mobile applications in Hai Phong. By expanding manufacturing in Southeast Asia, RRC aims to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of all our products while meeting the technical, commercial, and logistics requirements of customers.

Green Growth Under the Spotlight at HCMC Economic Forum 2023
On the morning of September 15, 2023, the HCMC Economic Forum (HEF) officially opened in HCMC with the theme “Green Growth – A Journey to Net Zero Emissions.” The opening session of the forum was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee; Mr. Le Minh Khai, Central Party Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister; and leaders from various Central ministries and sectors.

Vietnam Economic Monitoring – First Eight Months of 2023
Despite global shifts in investment trends and a decrease in global investment activities, Vietnam's appeal to international investors continues to stand strong. This can be attributed to the Government's proactive measures to enhance collaboration, facilitate foreign businesses, and enhance the investment environment. Furthermore, Vietnam's active engagement in numerous free trade agreements plays a pivotal role in boosting its export market.
In the first eight months of 2023, German companies have initiated 24 newly registered projects, invested in 6 projects with additional capital, and engaged in 22 M&A projects.

Germany: AHK Consultation Days | Roadshow to Germany, September 4 - 21, 2023
AHK Vietnam completed its tour around Germany to discuss the opportunities in business development for German companies with/in Vietnam. The consultation meetings were conducted either in-house, on-site, or individually.
Through 11 cities in Germany, we had the chance to talk to a great number of representatives from different enterprises about various aspects relating to Vietnamese business market entry. The topics varied from opportunities and challenges that German companies may confront, through the potential of development of the rising market, to the more specific ones such as location analysis process and business partner matching.

Cambodia: EIU Ranks Cambodia among Top Choices for Chinese Investment in Market Expansion and Supply Chain Development
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s rankings have positioned Cambodia prominently as the sixth most attractive destination for Chinese companies seeking market expansion opportunities. Additionally, its neighbor Vietnam also places in 3rd position just after Indonesia and Bangladesh.
For Chinese investment in supply-chain development, Cambodia secures the tenth spot. Overall, Cambodia's appeal to Chinese investors places it in the 21st position out of 80 global destinations.

Laos: The Government Allocates LAK 4.5 trillion to Boost Domestic Production and Stimulate Economic Growth
The Bank of Lao PDR (BOL) has allocated LAK 4.5 trillion to support local businesses and stimulate economic growth. The credit policy aims to reduce imports, increase exports, and strengthen the Lao Kip. The policy offers loans to commercial banks at a low-interest rate of 2.5 percent, which can be passed on to customers at a maximum rate of 6 percent.
This decision targets businesses in various sectors, such as agriculture, forestry, industry, commerce, information, culture, and tourism. The policy is in effect until 2025 and has different annual allocations for different provinces.

Hanoi: Cassette Release by Artist Tran Uy Duc | Music performance, October 7, 2023
The label's current cassette release by Hanoi-based artist Tran Uy Duc will take place at Manzi Exhibition Space. Besides, there will be concerts of Hanoian artist Ha Thuy Hang, who improvises with traditional Vietnamese musical material and intertwines it with elements of contemporary electronic music as well as Sholto Dobie, a sound artist and performer who is based in Vilnius.
