Interesting read on a sunny Sunday in Malaysia, an essay by Edmund Terence Gomez and Dr. Denis Suarsana on why Europe is falling behind in Southeast Asia in the economic race. Our main takeaways: - Europe needs an holistic approach on Southeast Asia similarly to China, USA and Japan - Europe asked its companies to de-risk from China without offering serious alternatives - the EU has to decouple its non-trade related demands from the conclusion of an FTA with ASEAN to boost bilateral trade - the EU must support better the interests of European companies in Southeast Asia! At a more humble level, Asiance Sdn Bhd and its partners are bridging the gap between European and Southeast Asian companies! 🔴🇨🇳 World leaders hail CIIE's role in promoting trade, development China International Import Expo, Shanghai Updated 2024.11.06 08:59 GMT+8 🌐🔗 https://lnkd.in/g298tMVZ Leaders from various countries and global organizations speak highly of ✳️the China International Import Expo's (CIIE) role 🔸in promoting multilateral trade and common development. ✳️📆The 7th CIIE, running from Tuesday to Sunday in Shanghai, hosts 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, as a world business gala. 🔶World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala noted that since joining the WTO in 2001, China has been a strong supporter of the organization and played a key role in building capacity for least-developed countries. 🔶🇺🇳Rebeca Grynspan Mayufis, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, said China's export and import activities have dramatic effects "even very far from its shores." The expo sent a message of openness that businesses worldwide can connect, forge partnerships, and contribute to a more prosperous and interconnected global economy, she said. 🔶🇲🇾The CIIE offers companies worldwide, regardless of their sizes, a platform to showcase their capabilities and attract new investments, 🔸said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Multinational cooperation for free trade and sustainability should serve as a tool to actively advance global progress, rather than as a means to suppress competition, promote unfair advantages, or create conflict, he said. 🔶🇷🇸 Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said that as a platform for enterprises, people, and cultures to come together from around the world, the CIIE fosters not only business and commerce but also friendship and mutual understanding. .

25th May, 2024: Promoting Port de Barcelona by attending the Global logistics cooperation conference by OLO in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The congress attracted attendees of over 700 logistics enterprises from more than 70 countries and regions around the world. Over the past decade, Vietnam's national GDP has consistently registered an impressive average growth rate of above 6.9%. In 2022, this record was shattered with an unprecedented high of 8.02%, attributed to the country's robust economic momentum and vast market potential. It is therefore no surprise that Vietnam has emerged as one of the most alluring emerging markets worldwide. Amidst the rapid industrialization and exponential economic growth, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam has grown by a remarkable compound annual growth rate of 6.4% from 2015 to 2022. With increasing investments pouring in from all corners of the globe, Vietnam has emerged as a prime destination for global manufacturing, import and export trade, creating rare development opportunities for the international logistics industry.
