Looking forward to the annual general meeting of the PRUDENT Project in Tallinn Estonia. the PRUDENT (Prioritization, incentives and Resource use for sUstainable DENTistry) project aims to develop and implement an innovative and context-adaptive framework for optimized financing of oral care. Using a mixed-methods research approach, PRUDENT will: ▶️co-develop oral health system performance indicators and implement them in EU-wide monitoring framework; ▶️conduct real-world and lab experiments to identify improved oral care financing mechanisms; ▶️leverage regulatory learning, needs-adaptive resource planning and deliberative priority setting to enhance the improvement of oral care financing. #oralhealth #uhc #financing

India has introduced its long-awaited Medical Device Policy to address the evolving healthcare needs of the country. On April 26th, 2023, the Union Cabinet approved this new policy, which aims to enhance the medical device sector in India. Historically, India’s medical device market has been import-driven, with a significant portion of imports coming from countries like the United States, Germany, China, and Brazil. The Indian medical device market is currently the fourth largest in the Asia Pacific region and is projected to reach USD 50 billion by 2030.

#remedy Exciting news from Japan! Researchers have announced that clinical trials for the world’s first “tooth regrowth medicine” are set to begin in September at Kyoto University Hospital. This groundbreaking treatment is aimed at helping those born without a full set of teeth. The first phase, running from September this year to August 2025, will involve 30 healthy men aged 30 to 64 who are missing at least one back tooth. They’ll receive the medicine intravenously to check its safety and effectiveness. Animal studies have shown no major side effects so far. Once safety is confirmed, the next stage will take place at Kitano Hospital, where the medicine will be tested on children aged 2 to 7 who have congenital tooth deficiencies, meaning they were born missing at least four teeth. If all goes well, the medicine could be available by 2030.
