🛣️⛰️China’s Gansu Province has historically been a crucial passage, or 通道 (tōngdào), connecting the Western Regions (西域, Xīyù) to the Central Plains (中原, Zhōngyuán) of China - a vital part of the Silk Road, connecting China to the Middle East, Europe, and Central Asia. Singapore is similar, as a port city which serves as an important node in global trade routes. 💭Today, we hosted an engaging dialogue with officials from China’s Gansu Province who are in Singapore for a study visit. We discussed public administration, Singapore’s social governance policies, culture and tourism, highlighting shared challenges and opportunities for mutual learning and cooperation in governance and innovation. 💬While the delegation is in Singapore to learn more about our experience and developmental journey, such exchanges also allow us to gain fresh perspectives on addressing complex urban and societal needs. 🙏Wishing the Gansu delegation a fruitful trip here in Singapore, and I hope to visit Gansu as well!
