AHK Vietnam - Delegation of the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam’s Post

Participated in the EROPA (Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration) International Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam 🇻🇳 . EROPA is an Asia-Pacific regional organization conference on public administration whose members include Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, China, and other countries and regions. This year's theme was The Role of Public Governance in Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Nearly 500 practitioners and researchers from government agencies in Asian countries participated in the conference, and 90 research presentations from 15 countries were selected from approximately 200 submissions. I gave a presentation titled "Sustainable Governance for Immigration Management in Japan: The Role of Public Involvement in the Provision of Japanese Language Education 🏫 . In the third session where I was, the following issues were discussed. 📍Government Capacity and Governance: The importance of enhancing public governance capacity to address global and emerging issues and the need for governments to be capacitated. 📍Meritocracy and Honesty in Government: The emphasis on key principles for government success, such as meritocracy, pragmatism, and honesty. 📍Nurturing and Retaining Talent: The necessity of nurturing and retaining the best public servants through training, appraisal processes, and performance-based promotions. 📍Technology and Innovation: The role of technology, new media, data utilization, and innovation in transforming goverment, improving public services, and fostering a data-driven decision-making environment. The National Convention Center in Hanoi is huge, and about 50 volunteer students, mostly second- and third-year students of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), stood on both sides of the red carpet to welcome us. The students, about 20 years old, were very kind and full of smiles. Some of them told us in Japanese that they were reading Japanese novels such as Osamu Dazai and Keigo Higashino. One student at a time was assigned to each participant as a contact person and took care of everything from airport pickup and drop-off to itinerary management and city tours, and we were very impressed by their hospitality. The city of Hanoi, with a population of 7 million, was very lively. Huge wall-like apartments stood in the streets, many women were dressed in colorful traditional Ao Dai clothes, restaurants were crowded with young people, and the city streets were very busy with motorcycles and cars, I could feel the energy of the people. #EROPA2023 #Hanoi #NationalAcademyofPublicAdministration

Once upon a time, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Vietnam, a grand cultural exchange was organized. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between the two nations and showcase their rich traditions and heritage. The vibrant event took place in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, where Malaysian and Vietnamese artists, dancers, musicians, and craftsmen gathered to share their cultural treasures. The bustling streets were adorned with colorful decorations, reflecting the unity and friendship between the two countries. The cultural exchange was not just about showcasing traditional performances and artworks; it also highlighted the potential for economic collaboration. Vietnam, known for its aggressive promotion of bilateral trade, seized the opportunity to leverage its involvement in trade agreements such as NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership). Malaysia, with its thriving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector, saw great potential in this collaboration. Vietnamese trade officials actively engaged with Malaysian SMEs, offering them insights into the Vietnamese market, potential business opportunities, and avenues for growth. As the cultural exchange unfolded, Malaysian entrepreneurs found themselves immersed in the vibrant Vietnamese market. They learned about the intricacies of Vietnamese trade practices, explored potential collaborations, and forged valuable connections. The bilateral trade discussions were filled with enthusiasm, as both nations recognized the mutual benefits of working together. Through this cultural exchange and economic collaboration, Malaysian SMEs discovered new horizons and expanded their reach beyond borders. They embraced the Vietnamese market, with its rapidly growing economy and a population eager for innovative products and services. Over time, the cultural exchange and economic cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam flourished, leaving an indelible mark on their diplomatic relations. The celebration of their 50 years of friendship paved the way for deeper ties, increased trade, and prosperity for both nations. And so, the story of the cultural exchange between Malaysia and Vietnam became a testament to the power of diplomacy, cultural understanding, and economic collaboration in shaping a brighter future for both countries. #entrepreneurs #opportunity #future #event #connections #collaboration
