AHK Vietnam - Delegation of the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam’s Post

THE 21ST NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROVINCIAL AFFAIRS: STRENGTHENING HIGH-QUALITY INVESTMENT ATTRACTION WITH THE AIM OF GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF PROVINCES   📌 This afternoon, Marko Walde, Chief Representative of AHK in Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos was honored to take part in the 21st National Conference on Provincial Affairs hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Hanoi. The conference was the gathering point between diplomatic and economic organizations, as well as foreign business chambers and associations.   📌 Sharing in the panel discussion on international trends, experiences, and recommendations for Vietnam’s provinces in attracting high-quality investment, Marko Walde highlighted energy transition as one of the crucial components of Vietnam’s strategies to enthrall more German investors. Germany itself is the world's fourth-largest economy, as well as a leader in the energy transition, ranking 11th out of 120 countries on the Energy Transition Index 2023. Some remarkable achievements from this endeavor can be named such as: 🟢 Improved energy efficiency: Germany has invested in energy-efficient technologies and infrastructure, resulting in a 9% reduction in the energy intensity of its economy. 🟢 Increased share of renewables: Over 40% of Germany's electricity now comes from renewables, to reach 80% by 2030. 🟢 Phased out nuclear power: The last nuclear plant closed in April 2023. 🟢 Reduced Green greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions: Germany's carbon intensity has declined by 9%, though challenges remain in hard-to-abate sectors.   📌 On top of that, Germany and Vietnam have a strong and growing partnership in green development, with a focus on renewable energy, sustainable urban development, and climate change adaptation. Vietnam has suitable conditions and the willingness from not only the government but also businesses to develop green and sustainably. The most important criterion is now to create a supportive regulatory environment. The regulatory environment should be clear and predictable, and it should provide incentives for green investment.   🤝 Representing German business interests in Vietnam and bearing a strong commitment to being the bridge between the two economies, AHK Vietnam is grateful for the opportunity to share our points of view and expertise to support both German and Vietnamese businesses in various aspects. We extend our sincere thanks to MoFA for the invitation and the other panelists for the insightful discussion today!   #AHKVietnam #PartnerInVietNam #PartnerForSuccess #InvestmentInVietnam
