WORKSHOP: STRENGTHENING MARKET ACCESS FOR WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES POLICIES, PRACTICE AND SOLUTIONS 📍 Last Friday, 17 November, AHK Vietnam had the privilege to participate in the insightful Workshop on "Strengthening Market Access For Women-Owned Businesses Policies, Practice, And Solutions”. This event was organized by the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council (VWEC) under VCCI, in cooperation with UN Women. This is an activity in terms of the "WE RISE Together" Program supported by the Australian Government through the Mekong-Australia Partnership and implemented by UN Women. 🔎 The workshop gathered key stakeholders, including the Central Institute for Economic Management of Vietnam (CIEM), P&G Vietnam, women's business associations, and inspiring women entrepreneurs. The objective of this event is to enhance the market access capabilities of women-owned businesses through updated legal policies, support programs, and the exchange of practical experiences. 💬 In the panel discussion, Ms. Lanh Huyen Nhu, #BusinessScout and Project Manager of Sustainable and Climate Resilient Supply Chains at AHK Vietnam shed light on the opportunities and challenges faced by women-owned businesses in accessing German and EU markets, especially in light of the tightening standards for responsible business practices. In adapting to these changes, female leaders must proactively engage with evolving regulations such as the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (#LkSG), The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM), and The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD) and turn these challenges into opportunities to seize pioneering positions for their businesses. 🤝 At AHK Vietnam, we are committed to bridging the gap and providing invaluable advice to both German and Vietnamese businesses regarding LkSG. Australia 🇦🇺 set to go full throttle 🚀 with its closest neighbours in Southeast Asia. I was privileged to witness our Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister, Penny Wong launch Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 in Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩 I am excited to see the 2040 Strategy bring about deeper ties for women led SMEs, collaboration in the creative industry and opportunities for informing both sides of its modern cultural and diaspora communities. Australia was one of four countries to announce their grand strategy for deeper ties at the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum on 6th of September. So what does this all mean? Currently, Southeast Asia as a trading bloc is Australia’s second largest trading partner after China. Southeast Asia is set to become the fourth largest economic powerhouse by 2040, with 4% compound growth. The 2040 Strategy set to play a fast catch game. Even though Australia is one of the closest neighbours with Darwin just a stone throw away from Indonesia, our trading commitment is next to none in comparison to far away competitors such as Canada, Japan and the US. It’s a no brainer why SE Asia is now the hottest economic market in town: Economic ties + people2people connections = Security in the region By 2040, Australia is committed to increase investment flow, trade and people2people connections in the following industries: ✅ Agriculture and food ✅ Resources ✅ Green energy transition ✅ Infrastructure ✅ Education and skills ✅ Visitor economy ✅ Healthcare ✅ Digital economy ✅ Professional and financial services ✅ Creative industries Congratulations to the Australian team at Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the staff at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta for setting our course to 2040.
